‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ Waterstones Brighton Launch Event
Last Thursday I went to the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Waterstone Brighton Book Launch Event and it was brilliant. I went there without many expectations. After dinner, I waited until it was 10:30pm and then it’s when the fun started. I thought that someone would talk about the books or the movies. I never thought that I’d be hunting Nifflers in the shop! It was delightful!
After arrival, I was directed to the coffee area. Each table had papers for a quiz, plus there was a mini bar! We could order as many drinks as we wanted. We also had access to sweets and popcorn. On the sweets area, there was yet another surprise: a guide to the Niffler Hunt. Whoever collected all the letters that the Nifflers had, and came up with a secret word, would get something.
Around this floor you’ll need to seek
6 furry creatures, black and sleek.
They’ll hold a letter in their paws
Clues to a prize that could be yours!
Follow the clues to find Newt’s Friend
Unscramble the letters to reach the end.
(It’s from Newt’s world, this magic word
Outside of that it’s rarely heard.)
“Monet, Kahlo, Klimt and co will show you what you need to know.” Here I found the letter A held by a super cute Niffler.
“You need a book about a tree? Perhaps a clue somewhere there’ll be?” The Niffler had a U.
“Fantastic places in a book, I think you’ll find that’s worth a look…” This Niffler had an S.
“Famous folk with tales to tale, there’ll be a clue round there as well.” The fluffy Niffler had an M.
“This one won’t use a selfie stick! He’d rather hear a shutter click.” And this cute Niffler had an A.
Finally, “the silver screen is worth a peek, you might discover what you seek.” The last Niffler had a C.
After getting all the letters, the girls at the drinks counter gave us chocolates. It was very funny and lovely to do a Niffler Hunt. But that’s not all. The Quiz took us almost all the time, and it was fun. And, at a certain point, almost impossible. What we didn’t know is that whoever got the most significant amount of points would get an item from the shop. Each member of the winner group got whatever they wanted from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. How cool is that?
But wait, there’s more! (You might be thinking that all the food, sweets, games were more than enough for a fantastic night. But the girls of Waterstones Brighton had even more surprises for all of us.)
As soon as 12am hit the clocks, we started to get our copies of the book. But these copies are unique, magical, fantastic, beastie, incredibly precious. They have a great stamp that workers of Waterstones carefully prepared for the event. I can’t tell you how incredible this tiny detail is, and how beautiful the night was. There’s a small cute Niffler.
I was at the launch of Fantastic Beasts Crimes of Grindelwald the original screenplay, Waterstones, 16.11.2-18.
I don’t have pictures of all the fantastic Waterstones Brighton staff that made it possible. However, I do have a picture of the two girls who made our night delightful and created all the magic around the event. Thank you for the fantastic night, games, unicorn drinks, and sweets.
And, just before I went home, I saw a Lumos schedule book and I had to get it. So, I ended with a shiny copy of the screenplay (unique since it has a fantastic stamp on a page), and a magical schedule book to begin 2019 with some “mischief managed.”
I just hope that Waterstones Brighton continues creating unusual events like this one. It was brilliant, magical, incredibly fun, and it had terrific perks. I couldn’t be happier!
