Jackass! (Yaoi Manga)

I’ve had a lot of fun reading Jackass! [The Book Depository] [Waterstones] (Who said it was okay to touch?), a yaoi manga by Scarlet Beriko. It’s a comedy yaoi manga involving six guys. However, the stars in the book are Keisuke and Masayuki. They’re best friends, but they have a weird relationship. Masayuki is a womanizer and is carefree and very rich. Keisuke lives with his sister Akiko. He has to work in a part-time job to bring money home. Although his sister works, there’s not enough money in the house for everything. For example, Masayuki is a runner on the sports team, and his shoes are ancient. He cannot buy new ones at the moment.

Then there’s Katsumi, the best friend of Masayuki. He’s gay and hangs around his house a lot. He has an affair with the school’s doctor, who is way older than he is. Aramaki is way older than Katsumi, but he’s also shy and worries about showing up. He could be jailed because of the age difference.

And then, there’s Miyoshi who is in love with Katsumi, but he doesn’t know that yet. Instead, he bullies him because he’s gay. He calls him tranny and queer as an insult. Hosaka, who works in a gay shop and is friends with Aramaki likes Miyoshi. So, he hopes that things play in his favor.

So, what’s Jackass about? Well, guys who are jackasses. It all starts with Keisuke taking his sweatpants for the sports class from his sister’s room. That includes a pantyhose. He’s so nervous and in a rush that he doesn’t realize that he puts on his pants along with his sister’s pantyhose in one of his legs. He just finds it difficult, and he doesn’t understand why. Then he realizes. He sees the pantyhose on his sock and freaks out because he’s surrounded by his classmates. Fortunately, there’s someone else who has noticed: Masayuki.

Masayuki wants to help his friend and tells the teacher that Keisuke has a stomachache and should go to the infirmary. So, when they go, they open the door and discover Katsumi and Aramaki-sensei about to kiss. The doctor is too ashamed and goes out of the infirmary to hide somewhere, while Katsumi goes behind him. They leave Keisuke and Masayuki alone. When Keisuke takes out his pants, we can see that the pantyhose on one of his legs is claiming Masayuki’s full attention. Both are shocked by Masayuki’s reaction. First, Keisuke thinks he’s playing a joke on him. But soon it’s clear that Masayuki’s kink is playing tricks on him.

Masayuki is a womanizer. He likes women and goes from one to another pretty quickly. He’s obsessed with legs. It turns out that Keisuke’s legs are perfect in pantyhose. He’s been looking for that during ages. It seems that the ideal legs were just next to him: his friend’s.

Despite Keisuke’s plea to stop, Masayuki is able to bribe him with food. He convinces him to let him do his stuff with his leg. So far, it’s just rubbing and touching the leg with the pantyhose. But something quite surprising happens while they’re at it: both get excited. Masayuki escapes to the bathroom, leaving Keisuke confused and with a boner in the infirmary. This leaves both of them with tons of questions.

Katsumi and Aramaki end up talking. Katsumi is too wild and can put them into trouble, so the doctor convinces him to behave in the school. And it seems it works for the time being.

Masayuki goes to Keisuke’s part-time job place and buys a pair of pantyhose after convincing him to let him touch his legs again. It’s a funny and entertaining scene. Keisuke starts feeling more and more like one of Masayuki’s girls. But he’s not a girl, so he indulges his friend. However, he still has no idea whatsoever why he’s still allowing him to touch his legs. When they go back to Keisuke’s apartment, they’re alone, and Keisuke takes a shower, puts on the pantyhose, and allows Masayuki in his room.

To keep Keisuke happy and in his good graces, Masayuki bought a pair of trainers for Keisuke. However, Keisuke refuses them. Masayuki insists he should have them to train properly. And he does so while touching his legs. Only that he goes a little bit further and ends touching his but.

Masayuki promises not to touch the butt and keeps up rubbing Keisuke’s legs while telling him how beautiful and amazing he is. He has the perfect legs, and it must be because he’s a runner. At a certain point, he says that Keisuke should touch himself, that he won’t mind. So, Keisuke decides to feel himself. And it’s then that something happens. While Masayuki is lost in the legs, Keisuke moans his name. That’s when they both stop surprised, and Katsumi opens the door announcing that he and Akiko have arrived with food. After some awkward moments, Katsumi welcomes Keisuke to the gay family.

Nothing else happens. The next we see is Katsumi trying to figure out if Keisuke is or not gay. And it turns out that Keisuke is charmed by Masayuki. That doesn’t make him gay, just in love with one guy. To try to figure that out, they both start watching some gay porn. Nothing happens. When Katsumi goes out for a date, Keisuke is left alone.

Keisuke decides to give the porn movie another go, then he starts imagining himself doing it with Masayuki. Shocked, he tries everything just to keep seeing his friend in hot scenes in his head. Not able to take him out, he decides to go after him and tell him that the pantyhose activities should stop if they want to be friends like they were before.

In the meanwhile, Katsumi is on a date with Aramaki. While waiting for him, Miyoshi spots him while being with friends. But soon he makes up his mind and follows the couple until the gay town. That’s where he takes pictures of them kissing. And the decides to spread rumors. There’s only a problem, a friend of the couple, Hosaka, who happens to be the owner of the gay establishment where he is caught him.

Hosaka takes Miyoshi to Katsumi, who tricks him into kissing him and takes a selfie. He threatens him to send this picture to his strict parents if he doesn’t get rid of the images he took of him and his lover. Angry, Miyoshi tries to go out from the place, only to have Hosaka give him his contact. He might not know it yet, but he seems to like dudes. And he can help. The reality is that Hosaka likes Miyoshi and hopes to get him. He’s cool, don’t get me wrong, but he’s so manipulative as well.

In the meanwhile, Masayuki and Keisuke agree to remain friends. But something has happened: they cannot go back in time completely. Keisuke teases Masayuki, and Masayuki teases Keisuke. Things don’t go well, and Keisuke ends up confessing to his friend Katsumi that he’s in love with Masayuki. So, Katsumi tries to put them together. But things don’t go as planned.

First, Aramaki-sensei quits his job without telling Katsumi. So, when he goes to the infirmary dressed like a girl to get something, he discovers that Aramaki is gone. This shocks him and depresses him to the bone. Katsumi ends up at Keisuke’s place drinking his sorrow away along with Akiko. But Akiko ends up wasted, and Katsumi calls Masayuki. When he arrives, he can see that both his friends have already been drinking for quite a while. Katsumi is so drunk that Masayuki needs to accompany him to bed. When he returns, he finds Keisuke putting on some pantyhose. And while Keisuke ends up touching Masayuki and making him come, things go astray. They end up fighting because none of them understand the other. Keisuke comes out to his sister, only to find love and comprehension from her. She will shout at him as usual.

Miyoshi wants to make things right with Katsumi and asks Hosaka’s help to find Aramaki. When he does, he gives him a lesson on how to be an adult. Plus, when he provides Aramaki’s address to Katsumi, they end up being friends. Miyoshi was in love with Katsumi, but he rather has him happy with the guy he loves, than miserable. Hosaka is happy because he now has a shot with Miyoshi. As soon as Katsumi gets Aramaki’s address from Miyoshi, he goes in pursuit of Masayuki because he goes to school by bicycle. He needs it so he can arrive at Aramaki’s place. When he borrows it, he tells Masayuki to follow his heart.

Masayuki is shocked first, but then he follows Katsumi’s advice and goes to Keisuke who is staring at the clouds at the top of the school. First Keisuke doesn’t want to see him at all. But Masayuki climbs up to the top.

Keisuke doesn’t want to be just one of Masayuki’s conquests. He wants to be his special one. Now that Masayuki understands that, and isn’t afraid to have a long-term relationship, they can be honest with one another. In fact, it’s sweet. Masayuki starts kissing Keisuke, but Keisuke has no idea. Masayuki ends up teaching him what to do. Then, they move to a more hidden place and have sex in a lovely way. It’s natural, there’re jokes in the middle, and it feels just right. It’s been a ride for this two to understand each other. This won’t stop Masayuki’s kink for pantyhose though. He’ll want Keisuke to put them on from time to time and tear them apart while they’re making it.

Katsumi ends up living with Aramaki. To the doctor’s surprise, Katsumi is a little entrepreneur and has lots of money. So he has no problems whatsoever. The youngest of the couple seems to be the savviest with the money of the two. And Miyoshi ends up closer and closer to a thrilled Hosaka.

Jackass! [The Book Depository] [Waterstones] is long (250 pages) and very funny. It does have drama, but the funny scenes and the dialog make the best of it. Although there are many sexy scenes, the strong point of this manga is the relationship between Keisuke and Masayuki. They have been friends for a long time, and Masayuki has always been way too friendly with him. Keisuke still allowed him to be so. It turns out they both like each other. As long as there weren’t any lines crossed, they could keep their relationship just friendly. Once Masayuki crossed the line, they had to come to grips that love comes in different shapes and with different flavors.
