I saw Deadpool 2 on Sunday, and it was insane! Brilliant is the least I can say about this crazy Superhero movie. Usually, second movies aren’t that good, but Deadpool 2 is just amazing. The film begins with Wade doing his job: killing all types of organized crime dudes. But, he goes too far and messes things up. And while this is happening, in the future, another hero is facing drama. It’s so hurtful that Cable decides to travel back in time to fix things.
SPOILERS: this review has massive spoilers of the movie. Just go to the cinema and watch it, laugh, and then come here after you’ve lost it with Deadpool.
So, Deadpool messed things up by leaving one mafia guy alive. He tracked him down to his home with others and killed Vanessa. Wade couldn’t save her then. He was so heartbroken that he was moping around his favorite mercenary bar. It arrives at a point where he blows his apartment along with himself. It’s then that Colossus rescues his pieces and brings him to the X-Men mansion.
Wade is just messing things as always in the mansion. That’s why people just escape from him. He doesn’t see any of the X-men, but we are graced with a hilarious scene where the X-men are in a room, and they close without Wade noticing. Colossus wants to help him, and so they keep Deadpool as X-men in training.
It goes terribly bad. When they go off to save an orphanage from a mutant gone wrong, Firefist, Wade messes things up by siding with the kid. Colossus is very disappointed, obviously. So, Wade and Firefist end up in a facility for mutants. They put collars to them to suppress their superpowers. The problem is that Deadpool’s superpower is growing cancer, so he’s getting more and sicker. He’ll die if he doesn’t go out from the place.
Firefist and Deadpool end up in the same place. One day, Cable comes from the future to kill Firefist. What happens is that Firefist ends up being a criminal and kills Cable’s family. Even if he’s a kid now, he doesn’t care and goes rogue to kill him. In the meanwhile, Deadpool tries to protect the kid.
While Wade can escape, the kid remains in prison. The prison ends up being so damaged, that authorities decide to move them from the place. By this time Firefist is so angry that he teams up with the badest guy in prison, a giant dude who is all evil and all. Firefist’s path to becoming a villain is getting more and more evident.
Deadpool has visions with Vanessa who tell him to put his heart in the right place. And that’s to keep the kid alive and rescue him. So, he decides to put together a team. From all the team members, Domino is the coolest. Her superpower is having good luck. There’s also a dude with no superpowers whatsoever.
They all end dead except Deadpool and Domino. And that’s before the action even begins! Thanks to Domino’s good luck, they end up catching up with Cable and saving Firefist, but only to let him escape with the bad guy. His target is to kill the principal of the orphanage where he was. It turns out that the principal and the guards tortured mutant youths.
Deadpool ends up broken in two pieces. Domino takes him home, and while he recovers, Cable appears. He needs Deadpool’s help to deal with Firefist. The problem is that Cable wants to kill the kid, and Deadpool wants to save him. So, they end up agreeing that Wade will have thirty minutes to convince the kid, or Cable will kill him.
When they arrive at the orphanage, Firefist is already on a spree to kill the principal, and whoever stands in his way. Colossus ends up appearing and helping, along with Negasonic and her girlfriend. Things get worse and worse, to the point that Firefist doesn’t listen to anyone and doesn’t believe a word that Wade says. With no more patience, Cable shoots towards the kid, but Deadpool saves him. There’s a catch, he has a collar that suppresses his powers, so this time he’s dying for real.
Now, the scene takes for ages. That’s for Wade to die. This changes everything, and the timeline changes. Cable has a soft toy from his daughter, and it’s burned. It suddenly fixes itself.
So, while Wade is having a blast with Vanessa in the afterlife, Cable feels remorse and uses his one shot back home and uses the time machine to go back in time to save Deadpool. And so, he doesn’t die at all. Instead, he’s there as always, messing things up again. Thanks to all these events, he’s got a new family, and a team: Colossus is in it! And yes, Cable as well. And he’s fortunate to have Domino in it since she’s a very lucky girl! Also, she punches a lot and is incredible.
If you think that the movie ends here, you’re wrong. Keep sitting on your seat, and wait until Negasonic and Yukio fix Cable’s time machine. Cable isn’t going to use it at all; instead, Deadpool will fix all things. And that’s somewhat spooky.
He travels back in time and saves Vanessa. He also goes back in time to kill himself, and we get to see Wolverine. And he also moves back in time to kill Ryan Reynolds before he dares to say yes to the Green Lantern role. I haven’t laughed so much in ages, especially when I saw this swift scene where Wade kills Ryan. It’s too funny!
So, is it worth going to the cinema? Hell yes! Is it worth doing it more than once? If you love Deadpool as much as I do, yes forever. Now, remember to keep your butt glued to the seat until the extra scenes arrive. You won’t need to wait much, don’t worry.
I’ve read in some blogs that the movie is fridging Vanessa. It’s true, but we also get her back by the end of the film. This is a promise that we’ll enjoy her in the future. Or at least, I hope so. Vanessa wasn’t enough in the movie, and I bet she can end up doing fantastic things. Let’s see what will happen next though.
I loved Deadpool 2, and I just hope that we’ll see another crazy movie of his in the future. I also hope that we’ll get to see more explicit LGBTQ+ couples in Superhero movies. It’s excellent that Negasonic and Yukio are presented in the film, but they’re there and not there since there are a few scenes with them. Despite that, I’ll take this as a win for the time being.
Go and see Deadpool 2. It’s irreverent, bloody funny, and bloody like hell Deadpool is.
