Kuroneko Kareshi no Aishikata Vol.2 (Yaoi Manga)
Kuroneko Kareshi no Aishikata [The Book Depository] [Waterstones] gets even more emotional in its second volume. Kagami and his brother fight for Shingo. While Kagami wants to live with Shingo like always, his brother wants them to break up. Kagami should be marrying a woman, not a street cat. While he brother doesn’t value Shingo at all, Kagami is going to fight for him even if it means losing his family.
The family is the central piece of this volume. We can see clearly how fights within the family can affect all members, including the most little ones badly. Rio, Kagami’s brother’s kid, loves Shingo. His dad might not want Shingo at all, but little Rio is delighted to hang out with him. In fact, he doesn’t understand why his dad and uncle are fighting at all.

Rio gets attached to Shingo easily and wants to play with him. He also interrupts the couple while they’re kissing. Reasons go from needing help to go to the loo, to reading a book. Rio is adorable, but it’s getting to Kagami’s nerves. In fact, Rio is a small copy of the brothers. Because he’s still a kid, he doesn’t know how to control shifting. As a play, Shingo tries to show it to him. But, Shingo is just a black cat and Rio a leopard. And soon the game becomes spooky until Kagami saves him.
Despite all the funny moments with Rio, Kagami and Shingo are starting to fight as well. Small fights, but still, their relationship is getting affected. The main reason is that Kagami doesn’t understand why Shingo is so lovely to his horrible brother. Shingo is trying to save Kagami’s family. He’s trying to give the best of himself in the hopes that the brother will accept him eventually. However, Kagami’s brother is stubborn. He keeps on diminishing Shingo and trying to get rid of him at all costs. This fight is so bad that it affects Kagami’s and Shingo’s sex life. And when Kagami is angry, he starts to do rough unloving sex. Then, Shingo suffers.
Shingo’s ways are odd, but it’s understandable. He hasn’t had any family before, and he’s not exactly good with words. While Shingo is trying his best, Kagami’s brother is trying to do the impossible to get his brother to “do the right thing.” He hires him through a company to record a spot about family. That’s a heterosexual vision of the family, and he hopes that will make Shingo back down and Kagami to rethink his relationship. However, things backfire.
Kagami goes back home angry like hell. First, he finds Shingo, and they cuddle, but soon things go to hell when his brother arrives home. They start fighting yelling at each other. Things got so bad that Kagami starts shifting into a leopard to compete further. But Shingo cannot handle the fights anymore, and he pours water on both brothers in the hopes of cooling them. Then, he takes Rio, and he goes out leaving the brothers behind. He goes out because he cannot stand the situation and he doesn’t want Rio to see the fight. The kid doesn’t deserve all this unfortunate situation.
The problem is that Shingo has nowhere to go. So, he ends up at the photographer’s place, Kasumi. He also forgets all the money at home, so at the end, his friend pays for that. When he goes to work the next day, Kagami is desperate to see him. They soon reunite again, but his brother won’t change his mind. While Shingo and Kagami make amends, Kagami and his brother aren’t nearly done. Rio keeps liking Shingo, so the brother isn’t that happy at all about the whole situation.
Shingo and Kagami make up at home again, and this time Shingo is able to explain to Kagami why he’s so worried about what Kagami’s brother thinks. He doesn’t want to be the reason why Kagami and his family fight. He hasn’t had any family, and the last thing he wants it’s to break one. However, that doesn’t mean that he’ll leave Kagami. Just the opposite, he wants to be with Kagami, but he doesn’t wish Kagami to fight with his brother.
Shingo finally confronts Kagami’s brother and is also able to tell him what he thinks and feels. For starters, he doesn’t want Kagami to fight with him. But, he won’t stop loving or living with Kagami because of some rule that says that he has to marry a woman. If it’s not Kagami, it won’t be with anyone else. That’s how Shingo feels. In his plea, he starts to show up in middle of everyone. It’s Kagami who saves Shingo.
Even if Kagami’s brother doesn’t like Shingo, he’ll need to get used to him because neither Kagami nor Rio will stop loving the guy. In fact, the brother seems to stop bothering. Rio can visit them, but that doesn’t mean that we’ll see some fights in the future. Kagami won’t break up with his family, and Shingo will continue to live with him. That’s a happy thing, but you can see how troublesome it can be for them to keep up with their love.
Kuroneko Kareshi no Aishikata [The Book Depository] [Waterstones] is a very mature manga. We can enjoy a lot of smut in it, but we can also see how family members who are against couple members can get in the way and affect the couple in a deep level. If kids are around, they’ll get frightened, and they’ll also suffer. This volume makes you think a lot, and also it makes you wonder what happens in so many families that end up fighting. This yaoi manga is a ride of emotions. Despite looking very smutty, the reality is that it treasures a nice message. If someone is happy, don’t break them. Don’t push people away because of the choices that make them happy. It’s their life, not yours.
