Loki: Journey into Mystery. Thor is Lost.
This THORsday we discover that Loki has much to lose in Journey into Mystery [The Book Depository] [Waterstones]. Thor is but lost to all minds but Loki’s. Odin is in Celestial Asgard with the body of his brother, the Serpent. He decided to keep him there. Then he shattered the Rainbow Bridge, separating it from all creation. The rest of Asgardians now live in the fallen city of Asgard, on Earth. Freyja, Gaea and Idunn rule. They represent the Queen, the Mother, and the maid.
So, how did Asgardians lose all memories of Thor? During the feast of the funeral, Tanarus changed the sour wine to another one. And while they mourned, they forgot and started to celebrate a fake Thunderer. None remembered Thor except Loki. Thus, if someone discovered his tricks to save Asgard, he’d be in deep trouble because no one remembers Thor.
While he returns the Valkyries to Mefisto (Loki tricked them) and returns Hel to Hela, the All-Mother (Freyja, Gaea, and Idunn) discover most of his tricks. But, they still don’t remember Thor. So, not to be in trouble, he starts working for the All-Mother. War is around the corner, and so Loki will need to use his tricks again to save the place while working on the edges. If he’s caught, the All-Mother will deny everything. So, Loki keeps on being a despised being to save Asgard.
Fortunately, he has a friend, Leah. Hela told her to stay behind so she can help Loki keep his promises. Loki gives Leah a cave. He cannot bring her to Asgard, so he has his best friend in a cave. It sounds gruesome, and it is for Leah as well. But, there’s no other way to do things at the moment if Loki is to try to survive and help Asgard yet again.
While he starts brooding his friendship with Leah, he also has conversations with Ikol (the incarnation of Old Loki). It’s evident that Kid Loki isn’t like his Old counterpart. He’s soft, and he shows feelings.
Loki has a massive problem because while he tries to fix things without getting into more significant troubles, Surtur is in Muspelheim preparing for war. He’s working with his tools, and he’s already preparing doom to destroy Asgard.
The problem now is that no one remembers the true Thunderer. Thor has died, and so Loki is alone without any help. He’s the only one who remembers his brother, so the question is: what will he do next? How will he bring Thor back from the dead?
We can see that Kid Loki and Old Loki are at odds from each other in Journey into Mystery [The Book Depository] [Waterstones]. Ikol is fishy, and I don’t think he will give any good advise to Loki any time soon. While Kid Loki wants to get better and be different, as he promised to Thor, the world around him is doing everything to keep him from being the trickster. No one wants him to be good!
