Loki: Journey into Mystery. The Heist.

Journey into Mystery [The Book Depository] [Waterstones] gets rolling with the heist. Loki and his group of misfits is about to change the Serpent’s mind without him knowing. And how to do so? Using magic, of course. But if Loki wants to succeed, he needs to go to his uncle’s place, the Serpent himself.

The Serpent is the God of Fear, and he’s impossible to defeat, unless Loki does a trick. For that, he needs the dead Valkiries, Tyr, and other misfits that help reluctantly. That includes Surtur who thinks he’s going to consume Asgard. Well, he is, but not the one he has in mind.

We get to see a kind of Ocean’s 11 but with more trickery and far blodier. Tyr isn’t exactly tactful, and the Valkiries only think about the slaying. Loki and Leah are the ones to tamper with a book, use magic and change the Serpent’s mind. They do so by intalling the sead of fear. That’s right: Loki’s plan is to use fear against the God of Fear. So, when he meets Thor in battle, Thor will have an opportunity to save Asgard and Midgard. It’s genious, but it’s also very dangerous. If something goes wrong, the Hel will break loose, literally.

Little by little we can see how circumstances are bringing Loki closer to his older self. He’s the God of Mischief, and people don’t trust him at all. Because of this, he has to do just trickery and seek allies among the worst of the worst. And the only way he has to do so is by using trickery. And here’s the problem: by forcing him to be like his old self, how can he change for the better? So far we’ve seen him using all his tricks, for good. But, if something bad happens, it’s very likely that he might turn to the dark side again.

Journey into Mystery [The Book Depository] [Waterstones] is getting more interesting because that fact. Old Loki did so many bad deeds that it’s hard to give him another chance. But this isn’t Old Loki, it’s Kid Loki, a different permutation of the same God. If they don’t give him the chance to be different, things can be astray in no time again. So far, the only true ally and friend that he has is Thor. What will happen next? And what’s on store for Loki after knowing that Mefisto is also playing dirty?
