Loki: Journey into Mystery. Forced Truce.
Loki becomes the true trickster of Asgard in Journey into Mystery [The Book Depository] [Waterstones]. Hela and Mefisto are about to meet in battle, but just before the bloodshed begins, Loki manages a forced truce. But, how he achieves it is quite amusing. His tongue and cleverness is the key to make Thor win the battle against the Snake. So, you see, light needs shadows to achieve its goals. And so, Loki uses the Hel-hound for transportation, and his tongue to mess things up to his favor.
While Hela and Mefisto are about to kick each other, Loki goes to Hel and tells dire news to Leah. And while Leah goes to her mistress with the news, he takes the chance to play with the Serpent’s embassador in Hel. With the help of Tyr, he wins time to get even more dire information from the guy. Obviously, the embassador dies after so much scheaming and Tyr’s short patience.
Loki is a clever schemer, but he has to learn quite a bit about romance. Unlike his old-self, he’s failing with the ladies. He is still young, so he has a lot of time to learn. While he’s a good trickster, he still needs to know how to handle flirting. Leah doesn’t buy any of his charm, and he ends up in pain. It’s a funny scene, but it also shows that Kid Loki is still a kid. And so, he can make mistakes.
Loki is also cocky. But, in a way, he’s also pretty naive. This can be fatal if he makes a tiny mistake. So far, he’s manage to get a truce between Mefisto and Hela, but he needs something else to make things happen in Thor’s favor. He’s forcing his way using lies and twisting people. It’s all for a good cause, but at the same time, it’s a double-edged sword.
Mefisto is also a curious character. He’s as tricky as Loki, but he’s funny reacting to Hela. Since he’s the Devil in Marvel’s Universe, he can also be pretty evil. But, so far, in this comic book, he’s almost a comic relief. He is quite serious in his intentions, but when he’s caught, he turns to be pretty funny.
Loki has allies to fight evil. But, being evil allies too, things can blow up easily. Right now, he has a forced truce between Mefisto and Hela. He also has at his service the Hel-Hound. But, will he be able to maintain them behind his back? His goal is a hopeful one, but maybe Asgardians won’t be so keen to have such allies in the end.
Journey into Mystery [The Book Depository] [Waterstones] is a masterpiece of mischief and trickery. Kid Loki is a noble one, but his nature is that of a trickster. Will he succeed in becoming the guy he wants to be? Will Asgard let him?
