Star Trek Discovery Mirror Universe Arc is AMAZEBALLS
To state that Star Trek Discovery Mirror Universe is amazeballs is not enough. Since we entered into this Mirror Universe arc, things are getting very interesting, especially with Captain Lorca. Discovery is in the Mirror Universe and trying their best to get back home, but things look very grim. Plus the episode’s twist proved many fans theories right.
[SPOILERS: this post contains massive spoilers. If you haven’t seen the last three episodes of Discovery, do it now. You’ll be happy and shockingly surprised!]
Lt.Stamets jumped into the Mirror Universe after what looked like exhaustion from so many jumps. If that wasn’t bad enough, we get to know that Tyler isn’t quite sane. The Klingons experimented on him and implanted a Klingon soul in him. He speaks in Klingon and has also killed Lt.Stamets boyfriend. (I was in tears when it happened.) And if things couldn’t look worse, Lorca came up with a crazy plan to get back home. Lorca and Mickael are going to kill the Emperor of the Mirro Universe, who happens to be Captain Philippa Georgiou.
As you can expect, the Mirror Universe is hell. The crazy plan of Lorca’s implies him playing the traitor. So, he ends up in a pain pot for days, while Michael plays the sadistic captain. Things got so bad that she has no option but to tell Georgiou who she really is. Not the Michael of the Mirror Universe, but another version from another place.
In the Mirror Universe, Michael is Bo’s adoptive daughter. Despite this, the Emperor condemns her to die a quick death after eating Lt. Saru. I know, it sounds shocking, but the Emperor asks her to choose one of the three Kelpiens that stand in her returning ceremony. When they have dinner, she discovers that the Kelpien she decided, is the Kelpien they’re eating!
At the moment Georgiou is about to kill Michael, she decides to tell the truth. Georgiou believes her thanks to the badge Michael carried with her. It’s Captain Philippa Georgiou’s badge. Thanks to this they arrive at an agreement: they’ll exchange the knowledge of their engine drive for a way to go back home. There’s just a catch.
While we get to see Lorca tortured by someone asking him to tell a name he evidently doesn’t know, we get to hear why Georgiou is so angry with Lorca and Michael. And also why she was going to kill Michael. We see Lorca tortured, to the point that the torturer wants to kill him. We also get a glimpse of Georgiou’s problems: she has light sensitivity.
Remember that Captain Lorca has a problem with light? He has a very rare disease that makes his eyes very sensitive to light changes. Well, inhabitants of the Mirror Universe happen to have exactly the same problem! So, while Georgiou explains what happened to Lorca and the Michael of the Mirro Universe, we’re transformed into Michael realizing that Lorca is the Lorca of the Mirror Universe!
Remember that I said that Lorca was kind of fishy from the very start? Well, now we know that he was all evil! What are his real motives? How did he end up being the Captain of the Discovery?
And while this happens, Mirror Universe Lt.Stamets awakens thanks to the soul of his boyfriend. When he wakes up, so does the Mirror Universe evil Lt.Stamets. The environment that lets them travel is dying. What’s going to happen next?
I can only say one thing about this show:
