Why Loki won’t become evil in Avengers Infinity War
There’s been lots of fear about Loki becoming evil in Avengers Infinity War. However, there’s proof that Loki won’t go on the evil path anytime soon. He’s a trickster who enjoys pranking his peers. Although it’s true that he might throw incredible tantrums killing many, the reality is that he needs people to be a god. Thanos wants to destroy the Universe. Loki needs the Universe, so he can keep mischief alive.
Loki is a multilayered character that lives in the line of good and evil. You cannot trust him entirely, but you cannot stop loving him. He craves for approval, but his ways are deviant at best. When Thanos sent him to Earth to claim the Tesseract, Loki made sure that Thanos wouldn’t touch it anytime soon. He stalled in giving the device to the mad titan as much as he could. Not only he sent it to the Collector, once back in Asgard, he just kept it with the other treasures while enjoying plays about his faked death and heroism.
So, it’s more than likely that Thanos is going to be mad at Loki and willing to make him pay for the massive delay. And it’s not a simple delay, but one that has taken years. Time enough to assure that the mad titan will have murderous thoughts against Loki.
We know that Loki is a survivor. Many scenes in Thor Ragnarok pointed out at how he might have won the graces of the Grand Master. Being a Trickster, there’s hope that he’ll pull some tricks and survive what’s coming to him. And, by the looks of the glimpse that Marvel let us see in the teaser trailer, it’s not funny at all. He’s sweaty, tired, and is offering the Tesseract to someone. Perhaps to bargain for the lives of the remaining Asgardians.
People think that Loki might be offering the Tesseract to Thanos himself. But, if you take a closer look at the legs we see walking on corpses, you’ll realize that those aren’t the mad titan’s legs!
Pay attention to those shoes, and trousers. Thanos is enormous, and his fashion is less fancy. Now take a look at one of the mad titan’s minions.
The legs belong to one of Thanos’ generals, Ebony Maw. He’s not a fighter, but a persuasive bastard. So, it’s very likely that Loki ends up bargaining for the lives of Thor, the Hulk, and the rest of surviving Asgardians. And of course, his own.
He’s in as bad shape as Thor is. Hulk ends up what looks like falling on Earth. Then, we see that Thor ends up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s possible that Loki uses the Tesseract to send them away and save their asses allowing them to have time to organize and fight Thanos.
Loki thrives having people around him, like the Grand Master and Thor. He thrives on tricking evil and heroes alike. He needs people to be who he is and to create mischief and enjoy being the center of attention. All is peachy as long as he has a way out and people to prank.
We’ve seen him being a villain, but was he ever a true villain? In the first Avengers movie, he was the one to unite the Avengers to fight Thanos’ forces. And yet, he did it in a way as to be caught and sent to Asgard where he could continue his deeds somehow.
His actions can have devastating consequences, like losing his mother. He’ll forever feel guilty. And yet, he’ll forever be the God of Mischief. But, as Thor stated during Ragnarok, he can be much more. And it’ll be during the Infinity War that we’ll have the opportunity to see him become something more than just a trickster.
Now, the fear of seeing him die is as real as marshmallows. Tom Hiddleston signed a contract for six movies. This means that he’ll probably won’t die during the first part of Avengers Infinity War. However, since we all know that many of our favorite characters will meet their heroic end now, it’s reasonable to think that Loki will be among them.
So, for the sake of this great character, one of the best Marvel has ever produced, I just hope that he goes heroically. He deserves to trick, create havoc and mayhem, and die like a true hero.
In the comics, Loki dies, but then he resurrects. A new version of the trickster god comes back as a kid, and it’s Thor who raises him. He is way more than he was, and yet he can’t help himself keep it up pranking. I just hope that Marvel will decide to resurrect Loki. As much as I love Tom Hiddleston as Loki, we know that he can’t play the trickster forever. And yet, there’s hope. In the comics, the old version of Loki visits the resurrected one sometimes.
In essence, I don’t believe Loki will become evil again. Instead, he’ll bargain for the lives of his brother and remains of his people. And of course, he’ll try whatever to be alive. But, knowing Loki, I bet that if he has to die, he’ll do it with drama, mayhem, and a huge bang.
And why would he risk it all? Why would he go to the hero path after all? As I said, he needs people to prank. A barren Universe is boring. And, since he’s one of the idiots that live in this forsaken reality, he’ll do his best to keep it going.
What do you think Loki will do in Avengers Infinity War?
