Yesterday was a perfect day. Not only I got an incredible comic book haul thanks to the Free Comic Book Day, but also because I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy! The day began with a visit to the local comic book store. However, those wouldn’t be the first comics of the day. On Friday I got a fantastic parcel from Greece! It came with lots of goodies from the Greek Comic Con, including a signed copy of Mockingbird. (Thank you Ioanna!)
After coffee, I went to Dave’s, Brighton’s comic book store, and I got a bunch of comics. In total, I got 13 issues of goodness, including Superheroes and adult comics. Dave’s is a cave of wonders. I don’t want to go too often because I end up buying comics and Pops. I made a mistake: I checked if they had new Funko Pops and I got Cassidy, the funky vampire from the Preacher.
I’m not sure, but I think I got even more swag than last year. Marvel Comics never disappoints me, but DC has, so I didn’t expect much from them. Fortunately, this year we got Wonder Woman! Plus a new title with, hang on, Wonder Woman in it (for kids and teens, I suppose). I also got Archie (just because), and other titles. I’m never sure about independent comics. My biggest problem is the artwork. If I don’t like it, I won’t read the comic!
Have you noticed the book among the comics? That’s because I ended up going to Waterstones to use the loo. Theoretically I was only going to use their bathroom, but I ended up taking a book! Beyond the Wall sounded compelling enough for me to buy it.
After buying comics and books, I ended up eating Japanese food and drinking bubble tea (tapioca). Then I hit the Lego store, where I bought a Leia keyring. And then, I walk for enough time as to have my feet hurting like hell. Our little group of four hobbits decided to hit the pub inside the cinema to crush, drink beer and have some food before the film.
You must be thinking: a pub? Inside the cinema!? What are you talking about!? Yes, there’s a pub in the cinema we chose to see Guardians of the Galaxy vol2. It is good to wait for the movie with some pints and some food. By the time the movie started we were a little bit too happy, I’m afraid. And yes: we also took beer to enjoy the film. At that point, a pint more or less wouldn’t make a difference!
So, how was my day yesterday? In a word? Brilliant!
