I finally finished Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows [The Book Depository]! I must tell you something: it’s a masterpiece! Despite having a few time to read, I managed to finish it before I had in mind. This is so good, you don’t want to sleep at night because you need to know what happens next! No wonder I already started reading Crooked Kingdom [The Book Depository].
What can I tell you that you haven’t read elsewhere? This is more than Ocean’s Eleven and Game of Thrones combined! This is the epiphany of fantasy and suspense mixed. It’s been a very long time since I’ve got hooked in this way with a book!
[SPOILERS: be advised, there are some spoilers ahead. Don’t worry; there aren’t enough of them as to crush your will to read this book.]
One of my favorite characters is Kaz. For some reason, a younger version of Captain Hook comes to mind when I imagine him. Although I must admit that Kaz is a difficult-to-deal individual, he’s quite alluring. Matthias is also great, although he isn’t that smart. He makes me think about a mix of Ragnar and Thor. And Nina is a beautiful mess who has incredible powers.
The whole crew is fantastic. I couldn’t stop reading and be wanting to know more about all of them. The intelligent use of their names for different chapters is also a way to keep you reading. Each chapter is dedicated to a different member of the crew, and thus, you get to get into her or his shoes!
I loved the descriptions a lot too. For some people, these might seem to slow the reading pace. However, I found them necessary to make me dive into the world of the Grisha and the Barrel. So, prepare yourself for a great ride in all senses. Descriptions are magical, the action will take your breath away, and the love couples that appear in the pages will make you dream.
Yes, you have no choice but to ship something. Well, at least if you have shipping tendencies like me you’ll feel compelled to do so. Kaz and Inej, Matthias and Nina, and yes, Jesper and Wylan. Pick one, pick two, or choose them all. Ship any you like. You’re bound to success with all of them!
So, if I had to give stars to this book, I’d give it 20, from a five-star rating system. Yes, it’s that good!
Now you know why I need to keep reading! Crooked Kingdom [The Book Depository] is just as amazing. I just wonder if Leigh Bardugo will keep writing and will transform this duology into a trilogy. Here’s a fan who hopes so!
Should you be reading this book? Hell, yes! Buy it asap and start reading yesterday! No mourners. No funerals.
