MCM London Comic Con 2016: Mayhem! Total Mayhem!!
MCM London Comic Con 2016 was an absolute mayhem of goodness and Cosplay! Going to the venue proved challenging from Brighton. I’m happy I chose Saturday to go, because after a very moved working Friday, it’s better to get super tired with something you love, and then, snore the whole Sunday. I didn’t expect anything in particular from MCM London Comic Con, just queuing for yonks. Fortunately, we arrived early in the morning. A friend from Spain came just for the Con, and the three of us were super excited as the time for arrival came. We shared the train with tons of Cosplayers that were already in character from Brighton, which means that we were having fun since we were on that train. I think the best part of the Con was to find some cool Cosplayers who portrayed some of my favorite characters in comics and shows, and also the staggering amount of Pops all over the place. The downfall: no cool geek fashion. Yeah, lots of tees and hoodies, but: what about bringing some We Love Fine and Her Universe from the States? For a change, I’d like to buy those in person and not online. Oh, well! Things can’t be perfect!
But let’s start with my favorite characters, shall we? [Note: I don’t have all the names of all the Cosplayers I met. Just a few, however, if you see yourself in these pictures and want me to add a link to your blog, or social media, just PM me.]
My character choice was simple: Spider-Gwen. I’ve bought enough geek fashion about her as to be ready for any situation. I had my tank top hoodie, my cardigan, and my hoodie. Think it as a Spider-Onion prepared for any temperature: hot, chilly and freezing. No funky British weather will spoil my decision of going as Spider-Gwen to the Con. If you’ve read this blog, you already know that I rock those geek fashion items on a daily basis. So, yeah, this means that I do walk around Brighton dressed up as Spider-Gwen when I like. [I wear the hoodie on a daily basis because it’s the warmest thing ever for this chilly weather. I love it! And it seems no one else has it yet around here since I am usually asked where did I buy it. At some point, I expect someone else rocking the hoodie around Brighton.]
In my mind, I thought I would find tons of Spider-Gwens at the Con. I thought that more people would be rocking a hoodie or at least a tank top one. However, I was astonished not to find anyone else with my exact same choices. However, I did find two other Spider-Gwens! And I was so happy to find them!
I found the real Spider-Gwen having a snack. [I basically assaulted her almost yelling Spider-Gwen and pointing at her with my finger. Ahem.] She has ordered her suit, and she told me it was around Β£500. She also had the super blue shoes. So, all in all, her outfit was perfect!
But when you think things can’t get better than that, you find gender-blend Spider-Gwen. Dude, the guy, rocked it hard!
I must admit that I’m biased to the bone here: I like when people bend the rules, or when people nail it. And when I thought no one could brighten my day more than that, I found Ms. Marvel!
If you’ve been reading me, you know that Ms. Marvel is one of my favorite comic books and characters of all times. I love the story, I love the growth of Kamala Khan, and I love how well they’ve crafted the character so that tons of people can see themselves in her from many different angles. I saw two Ms. Marvels; however Rumzah told me that she saw three of them. From the two I saw, Rumzah’s version was the best! Not only she nailed the character, but she is also like Kamala! If someone told me she is Kamala Khan, I’d believed that. She was cool and a very nice person to chat with. (You can find her here.)
And when you think no one else can surprise you, you happen to see walking just beside you… the Dark Swan!
By the time, I happened to find Emma Swan in her darkest moment ever as the Dark Swan; my camera operator was off taking a time lapse. So, I could only get a selfie with Katherine Giovanelli, the only OUAT character that I saw walking around the Con! Katherine was as astonished as I was since she also took a picture with me! As you know, I ship Captain Swan hard. Being a super fan of Hook (and well, all the good OUAT baddies) it was just normal to react to the Dark Swan in such fashion. [Picture myself fangirling like a mad fan, and you’ll get the picture.] I must admit that I expected more OUAT Cosplay in the Con; however I lost all faith around midday when I saw no one at all. When the Dark Swan passed me by walking, I was thrilled!! I think that I was doing something like this:
I’m not kidding! You can find Katherine here. [She is also a Rumbelle fan! So, dearies, beware!]
And when you think that absolutely no one else in the entire Con can surprise you any further… You find the LadyBeard Cosplay!
If you don’t know who LadyBeard is, please take a look at his Lady Baby video first:
LadyBeard is an Australian guy who sings in the group of Lady Baby along with two super cute Japanese girls. They all rock the kawaii style in a different way. Well, the LadyBeard that I found is staggering! He looks like the real thing! I mean, I was shocked because I couldn’t believe my eyes. Is it real? Yes, it was! And super kawaii!!!
And then, things got Loki!
I saw some Lokis walking around, some were coupled with their Thors, others were alone rocking their style. Like this Lady Loki!! She had the best outfit ever! I love every bit of it! Plus, she was really kind! I know, the meeting point wasn’t very glamourous, standing out the toilet hall to wait for our mates to go out from the loo. However, that gave us enough time as to start talking about Loki. And as you know, I love all things Loki!
And after you think, things can’t get Lokier than that; you find Deadpool.
There were many Deadpools in the venue. However, few of them were as Deadpool as this guy. Plus, he rocked any pose he wanted. Besides, if you go to a Con, you need a pic with Deadpool: it’s mandatory!
And then, this happened:
We found Kylo! I must admit that whoever was under the outfit might have been having trouble. The venue was hot as hell, so Kylo had a super personal sauna down there! However, this was a nice surprise. If you go to a Con, you also need a pic with Kylo Ren!!! This is also mandatory!
And then, things got sweet again!
Who doesn’t like Frozen? There were many Elsas around, but this Anna nailed it! She was Anna! The real deal! This girl was super sweet, and her dress was amazing! I hope she keeps on Cosplaying Anna in the future. She was fantastic!
And then, things got colorful!
These two ladies made my day! They were so bright and funny! I actually asked for a picture while they were queuing to get bubble tea, and they were so nice as to say yes and rock a fantastic pose. [Yeah, I know, I shouldn’t be asking for pics when Cosplayers are super thirsty, but these two rocked!]
And then, when you think things can’t get rocky, they do!
I’m not a DC girl, as you know. However, a pic with this Harley and this Jocker was mandatory. There were tons of Harleys all over, and quite a good amount of Jockers of all kinds. However, these two were the ones who nailed it. [Of course, IMHO.] They entered into character pretty easily. Heck, it was like having the characters in front of your nose! So, bravo for these two!
And then, you find a weird combo: Matt Murdock and… free sex Superhero?
There were people around offering free hugs, but these two were amusing! I found them when I was on my way to a panel, and they were just resting. And I was like… is he offering free sex? OMG! And his companion is Matt Murdock! It was too funny, so I needed a pic. And because of the lights and all the crazy stuff of the panel, the color ended up being like that. Fate, it was fate!
So, summing up:
And…
Plus:
Don’t tell me that you bought nothing!? Of course, I bought stuff! Funko Pops! (Obviously, what could I get but amazing and wonderful Funkos?) My treats were: a Cosima Pop, an Alice Throught the Looking Glass Pop, a mini Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, and Dr. Zoidberg from Futurama. I also bought some Alpacas (Japanese plushes) to give as present and took tons of pictures. Nope, I did not buy any comics. I buy mostly all of them from the local comic book store, and online, so I was more up to find Pops and geek fashion. I did not buy any tees or any gear just because I didn’t find anything that I liked. I’m very picky with my choices (hello there We Love Fine and Her Universe!)
Have you been in any Cons lately? What were your favorite parts of them? What did you buy?

Looks like you had such a fun time Spider-Pepi!! Meeting some great cosplayers too!! I want to do a big comic con! The 2 cons I have been to were fandom specific Sherlock and Doctor Who! Which is great because you get lots of what you like but I need to expand my horizons!! Thanks for sharing your fun! π
Thank you!! Yeeees!! I had tons of fun! But my feet are hurting like hell. If you do go to a huge Comic Con remember to treat yourself gently and do stop for a rest xDDDD We didn’t really rest at all. We ate like the Flash and were up on our feet to continue walking around!!! O.o I haven’t been to any specific Con yet, so I might think about the Sherlock one π π π
It looks like you had a super fun time! I’m so excited to go to my con this summer! I love your pictures.
