Sense8: open yourself to new possibilities

I discovered Sense8 perhaps a little bit too late. However, I’m glad I did since it makes you think a lot! It makes you want opening yourself to new possibilities. This show is mindblowing. I had a little bit of a hard time in the beginning to grasp the idea, but then I was too hooked on it. Plus, it has some very sexy scenes.

[SPOILERS: this review has lots of spoilers about the show. I won’t tell you everything, of course, since there’s too much going on. But, there’s enough in here to spoil a great part of the show. Proceed at your own risk.]

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: are we that old already?

Oh dear! Today is the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter [The Book Depository]. And it makes you wonder: are we that old already? Not really! Yes, it’s Harry Potter’s 20th anniversary, but it’s also the celebration of a great series that opened our minds! Slytherins of the world: we rock because we’ve been hissing during twenty years.

I started reading Harry Potter quite late. I also saw the movies with a delay too. However, arriving late to the party doesn’t mean that you cannot enjoy the magic. So, if you haven’t read Harry Potter yet, you can start now. Yup, never mind the twenty-year delay. (I know, I’m evil!)

ACOMAF: A Court of Mist and Fury review

Despite being super busy, I finished A Court of Mist and Fury [The Book Depository]. I won’t lie to you: there’s a lot of violence and fairy sex in ACOMAF. However, you can also find a great story of recovery from trauma. Some descriptions are brutal, others are too harsh, but if you keep it up, you’ll see that whatever harsh live treated you, there’s hope if you dare to dream.

This book is about recovering a broken heart, about recovering from trauma, and about discovering true love. Sometimes, you think someone is a hero, and then you discover he’s not. Other times, the villain happens to be the real hero of the story. Prepare yourself for surprises and role reversals in this book.

[You’ll find SPOILERS from this point onwards. If you haven’t read the book, stop reading at this point. If you don’t mind spoilers, go ahead and be my guest.]

The Midnight Sea by Kat Ross

Today we’re exploring The Midnight Sea [The Book Depository] Sea by Kat Ross. I read the book in just two days because I couldn’t stop myself! Yes, it’s that good! I found this jewel thanks to Kindle recommendations that I got in my mailbox every day.

The main character is a girl called Nazafareen. When her sister is killed by dark magic, she wants to become a Water Dog, a Druj hunter. First, she has to train for years, and then when the time comes, she’s linked with a daeva named Darius.

The Daeva are slaved Druj. Water Dogs use them and their powers to hunt and kill other Druj. Water Dogs and Daeva are linked by cuffs that bind their power. There’s just one tiny problem: she can feel whatever Darius is feeling too.

A Court of Thorns and Roses, aka ACOTAR

I finally read Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses [The Book Depository], aka ACOTAR. Even if the author inspired herself on the Beauty and the Beast, it shines on its own. Be prepared for some harsh moments, and quite a lot of brutal depictions of violence. You will also find some sex scenes, but I found violence more appalling than anything else.

This book is fast-paced, easy to read, and has an incredible hero: Feyre. If you’re looking to read a female-lead fantasy book with tons of action, deceit and memorable characters, this is it!

[SPOILERS: this review has some spoilers. If you haven’t read the book yet, I recommend you to stop reading beyond these lines.]

Wonder Woman saved DC!

Wonder Woman saved DC! I feared the worst while waiting for Wonder Woman. However, this time, DC made it right. Although the movie isn’t perfect, it sets a great origins story for Diana. I saw the movie last Friday, and I couldn’t be happier. And yes: I want to see it again! There were some cool surprises in the film that I cherished.

But before I review Wonder Woman, I want to warn you about the SPOILERS. There are many in my review. Plus, I also expose two things that I didn’t like so much about it (just two tiny things). Be warned: do not read beyond these lines if you don’t want to be spoiled.

Leigh Bardugo’s Crooked Kingdom is a masterpiece!

I finished Leigh Bardugo’s Crooked Kingdom [The Book Depository], and I feel I can’t have enough of it! Unfortunately, this is a duology, and this means that the adventures of my favorite thieving group are over. Well, unless Leigh Bardugo decides to write yet another book.

Six of Crows was a tornado of emotions and action. Crooked Kingdom is an explosion that will enhance your sense and wished you had more “parem.” Just like Nina, I will have a withdrawal of this book.

[SPOILERS: this review has massive spoilers of this book. If you haven’t read it yet, please refrain from reading from here. I can just let you know that it’s a masterpiece that will leave you wanting more.]

American Gods: OMG!

I can just say one thing about American Gods: OMG! The show is so intense that you cannot stop staring even for a little blink. The photography of the show is so breathtaking that it left me gasping. I won’t lie to you, some of the Gods are incredibly spooky. Have you ever seen a Goddess eat a man through her vagina? You’re up to see that and gasp feeling as frightened as allured at the same time!

[SPOILERS: I cannot describe the show unless I give away some spoilers. You should also consider this show to be very mature. This is not a show for kids!]

Spider-Man: Miles Morales

It’s THORsday again! This means that we’re going to read comics! This week we’re going to explore all about Spider-Man: Miles Morales. He happens to have extra powers compared with Spidey. He has a problem: he doesn’t know how to balance his Superhero life with his normal life. Fortunately, his best friend and his dad are there to help. But, things look pretty grim at the moment.

For starters, he has a fan online: a young YouTuber. She has captured a video from a battle. Miles got his mask broken, and she could see that he’s brown. She instantly became a fan. Also because of representation grounds. However, Miles isn’t that happy about it.
