Grisha Trilogy: Ruin and Rising

I finished the Grisha Trilogy during the weekend. Ruin and Rising [The Book Depository] was amazing. I couldn’t let the book down despite fearing the Darkling’s fate. Even if it’s going to be a surprise, it’s not. We all know what will happen to the Dark Side. Many characters don’t survive the Ruin of this last book. However, it’s a masterpiece plenty of surprises. Although the reader could find hints in the other books, surprises are massive.

The Darkling and Nicolai are my favorite characters. And although they’re different, they both love Alina for similar reasons. One of them is power. Alina is the Sun Summoner, the Saint, the one who can stop the Darkling and make the Fold disappear.

[SPOILERS: there’re massive spoilers ahead. If you haven’t read the books yet, stop reading right here.]

Wootbox Retro II Unboxing, August 2017

Today I’m unboxing a super cool box: Wootbox Retro II, August 2017. I got it for free from Wootbox. They contacted me some months ago, and I agreed to make an unboxing and share all the good and evil. I got no other payment than the box itself (and all the goodies inside). I know that bloggers do things differently. Usually, you get paid for unboxings. But I wanted to be free from any guilt if I didn’t like things inside of the box. So, Wootbox sent me the swag, and when I got it this weekend, I recorded the video. And thanks to the box they sent me I spent part of my weekend remembering my childhood.

So, what do I do with unboxings? I open the boxes in front of the camera and record whatever happens next all at once. I can only make this once since I have no interest whatsoever in promoting things I despise. I can edit whatever disaster happens during the adventure, but I cannot redo it again. Once I open the box, it’s done. If I like it, you’ll notice it because I make weird sounds while I fangirl. If I don’t, I’ll start complaining or saying something negative about it.

Spoiler alert: I loved this box! I’ve been torturing everyone in the house with childhood memories because of it. Did you play with the Gameboy? Did you like Mario? Then, this box was perfect for you!

#MakeMineMilkshake or how a Marvel Comics Editor is being harrassed because of a Selfie

Marvel Comics Editor Heather Antos dared to share a selfie with her coworkers online. And then trolls attacked her because of that. Fake Geek Girl is one of the many accusations that she’s faced since she dared to share her Milkshake. But what’s all this hate towards geek women? Why all the harassment online? Heather Antos is one of the many women working in comics. But you don’t need to work in comics to face such slash online or offline. Although comics, as gaming, have been thought to be male areas during many years, reality tells otherwise. There are women working in all fields, and enjoying geekdom like never before. Let’s face it: women are here to stay. Not only they have money to spend in these geek niches, but they also work in them! And most importantly: they are geek and want to show it up everywhere.

So, what’s really going on?

Grisha Trilogy: Siege and Storm

This week I finished the second book in the Grisha Trilogy. Siege and Storm [The Book Depository] was intense and surprising. Not only Mal and the Darkling want Alina, but also Nikolai, the Prince. However, as Alina returns to the Palace, and the Darkling gathers forces to get it back, we see how her relationship with Mal erodes. She is getting stronger, and also different. He is a hero without cause at the moment.

I loved Siege and Storm way more than the first volume. It’s thrilling, and Nikolai is hilarious. There’s no way you can’t like the guy. Mal is moody, and Alina wants to get stronger. Like calls to like, but it can also be spooky.

[SPOILERS: this post has massive spoilers on the book. Refrain from reading if you haven’t read it yet.]

Shadow and Bone: Grisha darkness and light

So, after ACOWAR I started reading Shadow and Bone [The Book Depository]. It’s a tale of Grisha darkness and light that will enchant you. Although I find the Grisha trilogy way lighter than Six of Crows, Leigh Bardugo has done it again. Bardugo’s Grisha tales have swept me into a tale of power, darkness, love, and deceit!

We meet Alina, our female hero, and her love interest, Mal. She starts being weak and unattractive. However, Mal is robust and gorgeous. Little they know that Alina is going to be one of the best Grisha in the history of Ravka. But, is that good or bad news for them?

[SPOILERS: this review has a lot of spoilers. So, if you haven’t read the book, stay away!]

Thor: Ragnarok new Trailer gets deep into the new 80s style!

This weekend we’ve seen the new trailer for Thor: Ragnarok. It couldn’t be deeper into the new 80s style that getting more popular among media. If you loved Stranger Things and enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor: Ragnarok promises a great ride. Not only the movie is matching styles with the Guardians, but it’s also getting in the revival of the 80s that we can see in many other shows and movies.

The color palette is great. So much so, that one of my plans is to get a pair of posters to make my wall perfect. Yes: Guardians and Thor are going to be rocking my wall. Why? Because the color palette is similar! (And also because I’m sure I’ll love the new movie as well.)

Funko Pops that rocked this Week!

So, here we’re again with Funko Friday. I’ve been sharing a lot of cool Funko Pops on my Instagram account. However, I just made a selection of the best ones this week. Why? Because it would be madness to share here everything! Anyway, this week I enjoyed a lovely time with Siege and Storm in the coffee shop along with Harley and Prosecco Gummies. I know, it’s a strange combination, but it proved to be great.

I’ve also got into collecting Pint Size Superheroes. Oh, yes! I’m doomed. But, I cannot stop collecting them too! I decided to go for the Spider-Verse because I love Spider-Gwen. And so far, the ones I got are amazing!

ACOWAR: A Court of Wings and Ruin Review

I finally read A Court of Wings and Ruin [The Book Depository], aka ACOWAR. It’s amazing! Although I find it more political than A Court of Mist and Fury, this new installment of the series by Sarah J. Maas is delightful. We get to know more about Feyre, Rhysand, Nesta, Elaine, and the others. Although this volume was good, ACOMAF is still my favorite.

We left Feyre in the Spring Court. She had sworn she would revenge what Tamlin had done with her sisters. We also left Nesta giving the King of Hybern the middle finger. (You have to love Nesta and her angry ways.)

[SPOILERS: this post contains massive spoilers. If you haven’t read ACOWAR, refrain yourself from continuing reading.]

Spider-Man Homecoming was a blast!

I finally saw Spider-Man Homecoming on Monday after a long day, and it was a blast! Despite some issues, this movie is brilliant. For starters, Peter Parker is a kid who is growing up. He doesn’t know much and grows as the film progresses. This is the Spidey I imagined from the comics. Sorry for the previous movies, but this one nailed it.

We begin with the original song of the first series on TV about Spider-Man. That show was crappy at best, but technology at that time didn’t allow for a better web slinger. And then, we met Peter, a kid who is super excited to meet his heroes.

[SPOILERS: this review contains lots of spoilers. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I recommend you to stop reading this post.]

Despicable Me 3 was so much fun! The Minions are back!

On Sunday I saw Despicable Me 3, and I had loads of fun! Yup, the Minions are back! This movie is perfect for the whole family, but more so for Minions fans. It’s funny, smart, and it has fluffy unicorns. This time the villain is obsessed with the 80s music. Gru messes up again. But, this time he’s able to meet his twin brother Dru, who happens to have more hair than he does. Well, that’s not a difficult thing, really.

Gru is a Superhero now, so the Minions are a little bit lost. Minions are banana-like creatures who love villains. And Gru isn’t a bad guy anymore. But, his brother wants him to go back to being a villain.

[SPOILERS: this review contains spoilers from the movie. Stop reading here if you don’t want to know what happens next!]
