I can just say one thing about American Gods: OMG! The show is so intense that you cannot stop staring even for a little blink. The photography of the show is so breathtaking that it left me gasping. I won’t lie to you, some of the Gods are incredibly spooky. Have you ever seen a Goddess eat a man through her vagina? You’re up to see that and gasp feeling as frightened as allured at the same time!
[SPOILERS: I cannot describe the show unless I give away some spoilers. You should also consider this show to be very mature. This is not a show for kids!]
Here you have a short list of Funko Pops and books that will blow out your mind. If you need nerdy ideas for presents, this is it! Get these matches and add a memorable line on the card. I know, it’s an evil plan. You’ll make your friends pass out because of amazing swag.
Let’s start with Ragnar! If you were to go Beyond the Wall, you’d probably find Ragnar waiting for you. Okay, that’s a stretch. The Romans and Ragnar lived in different eras, but it’s funny to think about it. Go beyond Hadrian’s Wall, and you’ll find the funky Vikings.
It’s THORsday again! This means that we’re going to read comics! This week we’re going to explore all about Spider-Man: Miles Morales. He happens to have extra powers compared with Spidey. He has a problem: he doesn’t know how to balance his Superhero life with his normal life. Fortunately, his best friend and his dad are there to help. But, things look pretty grim at the moment.
For starters, he has a fan online: a young YouTuber. She has captured a video from a battle. Miles got his mask broken, and she could see that he’s brown. She instantly became a fan. Also because of representation grounds. However, Miles isn’t that happy about it.
Ten years before Spock and Kirk, we had Star Trek: Discovery! I just saw the trailer on Twitter. I’ve been reading some drama surrounding the cast, but I must say that the trailer looks brilliant. I can’t wait until fall to start the journey along with Star Trek: Discovery.
One of the things that got me euphoric is to see to female leading roles together. I just hope that the series is as brilliant as it promises. So, why are people complaining about it? I say that we must give it a go before we go berserk on it.
Today we’re going to explore Funko Pops that kick ass with books. Pairing Pops with books is cool, but pairing kick ass Pops with books is even better! The trick relies on matching topics that fit both the Funko Pop and the book.
So, let’s start with Ms. Marvel and Persepolis. I wasn’t so sure about the pairing, but then it turned out to be a great one. If you haven’t read Persepolis yet, I highly recommend this graphic novel.
This week we’re going to explore a sweet comic by Ru Xu called NewsPrints. I found it diving into the shelves of the local comic book store. It tells the story of Blue. She’s an orphan who works as a newsboy. To do that she has to disguise herself as a guy. Since the comic book happens during the war time, it’s not surprising to see men and women doing different roles. Blue is a girl, so she should be selling cookies. However, she loves living and working at the Bugle, the only newspaper that does deliver the truth in town.
So, Blue’s job is crucial: she delivers a right paper that explains the truth to their readers. But, everything seems fine as long as she is a boy. But, what would happen if she were to tell the others that she’s a girl?
I saw Colossal’s trailer in the cinema, and then again on Youtube. I would have missed this movie completely since the marketing around it is quite weak. However, it seems like a huge hit. Anne Hathaway plays a girl who has a connection with a monster that is smashing Seoul. This is a weird cult movie that mixes Godzilla, Kaiju, Kong and Pacific Rim! How can I not go to the cinema and see it?
Nacho Vigalondo has created a multilayered film. It seems like you can read the movie in several different ways. We meet Gloria, a total loser who ends up crashing at a friends apartment. By chance, she discovers that she is connected to a hideous monster who is destroying Seoul. When she dances, the monsters does it too!
Yesterday I saw Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2, and now I want to see it again! Yes, it is that good. Although it is difficult to make better movies after a huge hit, Marvel made it again. If you loved the retro feeling from the first film, you’re going to adore this second installment of our favorite Superheroes. I laughed, but I also cried. Yes, the only thing that I will spoil for you is this one: take a tissue just in case.
[SPOILER ALERT: this review contains massive spoilers. Refrain from reading beyond this point if you want to be surprised when you hit the cinema!]
This Friday we’re talking about Funko Pops, science, and Michio Kaku! If you haven’t read any of his books, you’re missing a lot of fun and crazy science. Since I’ll see Guardians of the Galaxy tomorrow, it’s just fair to take a look at the Universe first. True, we don’t own a cool space ship like Star Lord does, but we can imagine all about parallel worlds. In that case, I wonder, is out there a Universe with no dePepi in it!? I bet!
How do you imagine parallel worlds? Well, I do it pretty much in this fashion:
Yay! It’s THORsday again! It’s time to take a look at Marvel’s Runaways (Secret Wars x Battleworld). In this alternate reality, Von Doom has created a world where only the best are in the elite. And so, he has created a school where students train. Every year, there is a final exam they all must take in groups. But there’s a group of students who are in detention and who are going to get in trouble if they don’t sign up for the final exam.
Jubilee, Sanna, Pixie, Amadeus Cho, Delphyne, Skaar, Molly, Tandy, and Dagger are in detention for creating trouble. Bucky sent them there. He’s in charge of security. The school’s headmaster is Valeria (Von Doom’s daughter). As you can imagine, they end up cheating and signing up. But Doom is smart and knows they have cheated!
