Story Cubes Prompts: The Fairest of them All! Regina and the Evil Queen!

We return to have Story Cubes prompts on the blog! And we return with the fairest of them all! The Evil Queen is back, and so are the Story Cubes prompts. I chose the “enchanted” Story Cubes to start this section again, and I got: a mirror, a dwarf (or gnome), and a gremlin (it looks like a gremlin, but it could also be an evil creature). And the first thing that appeared into my mind was the Evil Queen! As you know, I’m a huge fan of Once Upon A Time, aka OUAT. One of my favorite characters is Regina, the Evil Queen. So, I was super happy to get this combo. I know, it’s not perfect, but it triggered Regina into my mind. As you might already know, Regina has split into two entities: Regina and the Evil Queen. Thus, returning with the Story Cubes looks like evil magic!

Story Cubes Prompts: The Hobbit! I’m going on an adventure!

This week Story Cubes prompts goes on an adventure! This time I got the following cubes: a map, the Lonely Mountains (or so they look to me), and a telescope. And the first thing that crosses into my mind was: Bilbo Baggins! Those mountains over there look like the Lonely Mountains, and that map over there seems to tell me that I should talk about the Hobbit! If you have visited this blog, you know that I’m a fan of Tolkien: Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit and the Silmarillion. [Yes, I read that one too several times.] While I love Lord of the Rings books more, reality is that in terms of movies, the one that thrilled me more was the Hobbit, and all because of Bilbo.

I like Bilbo because he is a strong character: he grows from a tiny Hobbit who is too comfy on his couch, to a wonderful being who is able to let the ring go. In fact, Bilbo, after years of influence of the ring, let it go on the floor when Gandalf asked him to. If we compare Bilbo and Frodo, we realize that it’s Bilbo the one with a very strong character, and Frodo the one who happens to encounter a situation too big for himself. Frodo is trapped and he has no option but to go on an adventure. Bilbo is free and goes on an adventure because he wants to! And there’s a great difference there!

Story Cubes Prompts: Harry Potter! After all this time? Always!

story cubes, story cubes prompts, blogging, depepi, depepi.com

This week Story Cubes prompts comes with lots of magic. This time I got the following cubes: a pair of glasses, a poison symbol, and two humans (one big and the other small). When I saw the specs, the first thing that came to my mind was Harry Potter. The poison told me about dark magic and potions and the last one was Hagrid! So, there it was: Harry Potter. My favorite characters from Harry Potter are: Snape, Luna and Hermione. I already have Hermione and Snape’s pops, and Luna is a pre-order pop that will arrive home at some point at the end of March, or maybe at the beginning of April. Anyway, when I think about Harry Potter, I think about Snape the most. The tragic professor who loved too much, and did his job undercover. “After all this time?” “Always.” So, what did I learn from Snape? What did this character taught me? (Apart that black is a sexy color and it fits everyone, good or evil.)

Story Cubes Prompts: Back to the Future

story cubes, story cubes prompts, blogging, depepi, depepi.com

This week Story Cubes prompts have science and the future. Well, at least if what I see on the cubes I got this week: a dice, a clock and a plane. At first sight, it looks like a weird combination. But then the idea struck me: Back to the Future. This movie was one of my favourites during childhood. Not only I found that Marty was cute, but I also adored the Doc. Granted that Dr. Emmett Brown was pretty crazy, but he was funny and quite amazing. His crazy hair and extreme manners were funny, but his intellect was alluring. Taking a look right now I can see the typical stereotype on mad scientists who can make terrible mistakes or mess things up completely. Despite the fact of having Dr. Brown gambling with time and travelling through it, he was a character that I would remember dearly ever after. Intelligent, daring, crazy and childish. Because let’s face it: they guy didn’t think too much about the consequences of his inventions. Perhaps that’s why we love him so much, don’t we?

This week Story Cubes prompts have magic within again. We’re talking about Once Upon a Time, or at least; this is what I see from the cubes I got this week. This time, I used the enchanted cubes (these are the pink ones) that have some cool pictures on it. Some of the pictures are challenging, but all are very useful. The enchanted collection only has three cubes, so I decided to mixed them all and see what happens. So, what did we get this week?

Story Cubes Prompts: Magic and Vikings!

And here there’s a new section in the blog: Story Cubes Prompts! Sometimes when I get the writer’s block I use these tiny cubes to spark ideas so that I can write about them on my blog. Because it’s fun, I decided to share them with you! You can join the ride and use the cubes I’ll be showing up each week, and adapt the topics to your blog. You can use the banner ton the top of this post, and leave your posts in comments, so everyone finds what you’ve written using the cubes! But, before we start: what are Story Cubes?

Rory’s Story Cubes is a dice game that helps you create stories. Each dice, or cube, has different images. These cubes are used to play games with family and friends, to spark creativity and to break the ice when social gatherings are weird. I use them for blogging every time I have a block and I need extra help with the topics I usually touch here. [Plus: they’re super cute! I have almost the whole collection!]
