Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat! Vol. 1: Hooked on A Feline

This THORsday comes with Patsy Walker, aka Hellcat [The Book Depository]. If you haven’t read this trade already, do it, because it’s hilarious. The artwork is fresh, funny and inspiring. And the script is simply a masterpiece of laughs. Hellcat is jobless and fighting crime. In the first pages we discover that the She-Hulk has to fire her because of a lack of work. Despite this, she keeps on the positive side of the street and keeps fighting crime. Even if she has to work in retail!

One of the things that I like the most are the explanations with kitty-shaped panels. These are funny, fresh and make the resumes on what’s going on amazingly.

The Sleeper and the Spindle, the review

I just read The Sleeper and the Spindle [The Book Depository] and it was glorious. I also purchased the audiobook on Audible and combining the two was the best thing ever!

This is a masterpiece by Neil Gaiman. This is a new fairy tale. I’m sure that just reading it is a pleasure. However, combining the book and the audiobook is completely perfect. The audio effects are amazing. I think that the book earns a new insight when combined with all the sounds.

How to cover your books and comic books like a pro!

Today I want to share with you how to cover your books and comic books like a pro. I’ve been putting clear covers on my trades and books to keeping them safe since times immemorial. Even my mother has used me as the official librarian of the family: when I go back home I know I’ll be putting covers on books!

Why do I cover my books and comic books? I want to make sure that the paper covers are protected. Most paperbacks and trades can be damaged very quickly. Using clear covers allows me to keep them safe and to enjoy the covers in all their glory.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Review

I finished The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time [The Book Depository] in two days. The books is brilliant: you enter into an Autistic kid’s mind and how he navigates and sees the world around himself. Christopher is a fifteen-year-old kid with autism. He lives with his dad. One day, when he takes a night walk, he discovers that someone has murdered the neighbor’s dog. And so, he decides to investigate who killed him.

This book is a breathtaking adventure where you discover the ins and outs of an autistic mind. And you do that from two points of view; Christopher’s and your own. You get involved in his world, and you end up questioning yourself how many different brains and ways of taking the world are out there.

The Martian Review; or how to grow your potatoes on Mars

So, I finally read The Martian (The Book Depository). Please notice that I haven’t seen the movie. So, all the information here is about this brilliant book. It was capable of getting me hooked on a guy growing potatoes on Mars.

I’ve never been so hooked on a science fiction book before. The technical stuff didn’t seem unbearable, but necessary since I wanted to know what was going on Mars. I found the reading pace very fast, highly entertaining and smart. This came as a shock since I expected something else.

Funko Friday: Cute Funko Pops and Books

Welcome to Funko Friday! We’re going to take a look at some Funko Pops and books on Instagram this week. The topic is magic and independent women who kick ass. I love all these Pops but for different reasons: some are thieves, others are adorable, others are just deadly. But all of them have something in common: they’re adorable! How can we say no to a Pop? Since my Pops acompany me while reading books, I chose books related to them. Take a look at the pictures and think for a while why I chose that book for that Pop. Then, read my reasons. Did you get it right?

Percival is not what he seems. After watching Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them I was bugged with him. He wasn’t exactly him, but someone else who tried to steal magic (the suitcase). Hence, Percival’s best book companion is Thief’s Magic [The Book Depository]! Although the book isn’t as simple as that, I think that Percival would have a heart attack with it.

Funko Friday: Funko Pops and Books on Instagram this week

Welcome to Funko Friday! Today I’m going to talk about Funko Pops and books on Instagram this week. I’ve changed a bit the way I post on Instagram, and to reflect that I decided to share an appetizer here. Why? Because I love Pops, comics, and books. Yes, for me comic books are books. And so, I start with Valentine’s Day! I got a blind date with a book. Although the unboxing (rather un-wrapping) video will come later on, I can tell you that this made my day! I was quite gloomy, and suddenly I got this mysterious present. It doesn’t say who the sender is nor the sender knows what book I got! (So, unless you tell me who you are, I’m not going to tell you what book was inside before releasing the video. Ha!)

I felt like getting Newt‘s suitcase in a way. You don’t know what’s inside, nor the scope of that magical suitcase. In any case, this idea rocks and I loved it. I also had a blast unwrapping the whole thing. (Yes, I’m still editing the video.)

Harry Potter Book Night: The Professors of Hogwarts

Welcome to Harry Potter Book Night: the Professors of Hogwarts! Last year we played games related to Harry Potter, and so we’ll do the same this year! But the games are different, of course. You’ll find part of the fun on this post, and the rest of my Social Media. All Professors have something cool surrounding them. However, my favorite is Severus Snape. Who is your favorite Professor?

Prepare yourself for a night of magic! This post is going to be long and mysterious. I’m not going to write the answers to all the questions today. You’ll need to wait for a day so that people can have fun first! Besides, if you had all the answers at the end of the post, it wouldn’t be that fun, would it?

Fantasy and YA Book Subscription Boxes available in the UK

book box subscriptions in the UK, book box subscription, book box, fantasy, ya, young adult, depepi, depepi.com

Fantasy and YA book subscription boxes available in the UK are rare. Most cool subscription book boxes are in the US. This translates to high shipping costs. However, there are some subscriptions that are out there and have cool swag for you.

Some of the book subscription boxes that were available in the UK have disappeared. Fortunately, the ones remaining are amazing. However, to find the available subscriptions from the UK was a little bit of a pain. So, I decided to list the boxes that I discovered that tune with my geeky tastes.

I recently subscribed to the Fairy Loot. Geeky goodies accompany the star book that comes in a bag that you can later use. It costs £26 (+ shipment, so it’s like £30). Each month there’s a different theme, and books seem to be amazing. My first box will arrive at the end of February. (Subscribing was quite a quest. I had to wait quite for a long time to get in!)

Rivers of London Review

Rivers of London is an amazing ride. Today I’m going to review this fantastic book. Keep in mind that I love Sherlock Holmes, fantasy and science fiction. So, there’s no surprise here why I might love Rivers of London so much. Rivers of London was titled Midnight Riot in the US.

The hero of the book is Peter Grant, a young countable from the Metropolitan Police. He has to investigate a crime, and the primary witness is a ghost. He works along with his superior Inspector Nightingale, who is a wizard.
