I found an exciting iPhone App: The Life of Odin, Norse myths by Reiko Murakami. It’s a simple game where you collect booze to get expertise so you can read about Odin’s life. At the beginning of the game, Odin is obviously young. But as you progress, you can see him getting somewhat older. It’s fun and free. Although I have to admit that the ads are annoying, the cute artwork and the myths make for the wait. If you love Norse Mythology, and if you like sweet anime artwork, then you can enjoy this educational App.

The game starts with the creation of the world. You get two stories right away, but then you have to collect wine to gain expertise. It should be mead, but since the original App is in Japanese, I guess that’s okay. You also get apples, which can give you enough energy to get more stories quicker. As you know, apples were the magic food of the gods. That kept them young.

You get apples by viewing the ads. That’s the cheap way to get them, but it’s annoying. You can also purchase them, but I don’t recommend it since you cannot get rid of the ads. That’s the only annoying part of this game. Or you can collect the booze. You can obtain the alcohol quickly, and you only need to wait for a while to be able to collect more of it.

As you get more stories, you also collect characters and very handsome versions of Odin. First, he’s young and fresh, and then you’ll get him with one eye missing. Although the primary screen has a chibi Odin, the cool part is to collect the artwork as you get more stories. It’s fun to get all the different Odins, and also read the version of the Norse Myths from his perspective.

As I said before, the only annoying thing in the game is the ads. I’d gladly pay to get rid of them! For the rest, it’s fun. You get the Ravens, cute artwork, and funny lines from Odin if you push on his chibi version. If you want to play the Life of Odin, you’re set to have a cute time. I just hope that the author will allow users to get rid of the ads somehow. Now, I wonder what type of Odin I’ll get next!
