I had a wonderful geeky weekend, and I wanted to share all about it with you. I had a cupcake, Japanese food, and I enjoyed reading Wonder Woman: Warbringer [The Book Depository] by Leigh Bardugo. But, it didn’t stop there, since I also joined a meetup centered in discovering comics.
Before going to the comic book meetup, we decided to enjoy an excellent morning coffee with a great cupcake. In Brighton, you can find several coffee shops with amazing sweets. But, Cloud 9 remains my favorite. I asked an Oreo cupcake. It makes me remember the Cookie Monster. I always end up destroying the cupcakes, and eating parts of it, and doing piggy stuff with the cream. So, I’ll just share the cupcake when it was whole and beautiful.
I enjoyed the Grisha Trilogy and Six of Crows duology so much that I couldn’t miss Leigh Bardugo’s new book: Wonder Woman: Warbringer [The Book Depository]! I’m enjoying the book a lot, especially because I love Leigh’s writing style. Now I’m waiting for her other new book centered on the Grisha. I just can’t get enough of that world!
Cloud 9 is a cake paradise! The place is cute, and they make super cute cakes and cupcakes. And, of course, everything is super delicious. The problem is the size of things! I can drink as much coffee as I wish, but I cannot eat as many cakes as my eyes seem to love. After quitting sugar for months, trying to eat something sweet again is proving to be challenging (and then I destroy the cakes and do piggy stuff). So, I decided to enjoy the place, and just ask for coffees next time.
After enjoying the cupcake, an excellent read, and too many coffees, we joined the Comic Book Meetup in Brighton. We went to the Yellow Book. It’s a coffee shop/pub that has steampunk as its central decoration. It’s cool and a great place to enjoy meetups.
We ended up being six geeks talking about Marvel and DC. Robin, the organizer, brought some comics including some weird ones like “Batman vs. the Hulk.” These were reprints; an original one can cost an arm and a leg, and your entire house… Yup, some comics can be that expensive!
After that, I had to go to Dave’s, the local comic book store, and take a look at my stash. And then, we were all starving so much that we needed some cool food. So, we decided to go to Goemon, a delicious Japanese restaurant that focuses on Ramen (but you can ask other stuff as well.)
Everything was perfect, but I ate too much noodles. So, I was unable to put in my stomach anything else. Not even another coffee!
After that, we went to Waterstones. If you thought I wouldn’t go and check books, you were mistaken. If I check comics, it’s very likely that I’ll end up checking books as well.
Saturday proved to be a perfect geeky day! How was your weekend? Did you have a geeky nice one?
