Welcome to a new episode of the Loki Year 2016! A late one, since I’m trying to catch up with my Loki schedule. Today we’re going to read the Creation of the World as portrayed in Gods of Asgard : A Graphic Novel Interpretation of the Norse Myths. Gods of Asgard is a graphic novel in black and white illustrations that explain Norse Mythology. In the Creation of the World we’re exposed to what Norsemen thought to be the creation of it, and we’re also introduced to the different gods that we’ll meeting in the pages of this short but compelling graphic novel. Among these Norse gods, we find our beloved Loki. But is he similar to his Marvel’s portrayal?
Not so much.
Although Gods of Asgard is a black and white graphic novel, we can see the Gods in full color on the cover. Loki is a ginger God dress in red. Since he comes from fire and he is fire, he is dressed in “fire.” We’re told that, despite of his race, Loki is a handsome and intelligent individual who is able to shape-shift in whoever or whatever he wants. Here, Loki and Odin are good friends and blood brothers. However, as fire is unstable, so is Loki’s personality. So, prepare yourself to have fun with him!
In the beginning there was fire, and then, after some events, the void. From the void appeared Ymir, the first of the Frost Giants. So, do we find Loki at the beginning? Let’s find out in this graphic novel!
