Welcome to another episode of the Loki Year 2016! We’re going to discover all the ins and outs of Freyja’s Wedding from the lens of Loki : Nine Naughty Tales of the Trickster. Prepare yourself to laugh a lot with this tale. In Norse Mythology we encounter funny adventures of the Gods in which you can make fun of them. Freyja is the sexiest Goddes in Asgard, and Thrym wants to marry her. In fact, he frames the Gods of Asgard to do so. However, the Freyja he gets in his weeding party isn’t very feminine at all: she is muscular, has a voracious appetite and a very bad temper. She is accompanied by one of her maids, a Jotun one: petite, with an evil smirk. Does this description ring a bell about what’s going to happen?
In this Myth we can see Loki’s magic and intellect in action. Not only we’re to laugh on Thrym’s stupidity, but also we will laugh a lot about Thor, who is dressed up like Freyja. The objective is to get back the Hammer, and make a carnage and an example out of the Jotun Thrym and his household.
Loki is a trickster who has fun tricking everyone. And this includes Thor. Can you imagine what would be for Thor to dress up in women’s clothes, to pose like a woman just to recover his Hammer? The levels of rage might have been incredibly high, no wonder he slaughtered all the Wedding attendants in a rampage!
This tale is smart, witty, and it has a surprise ending. Keep up with Loki and his mischief! We’re set for the fun here!
